OFFICIAL PETITION TO THE TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
WHEREAS, the right to own and carry a firearm is a basic freedom that belongs to every law-abiding Tennessean; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee passed permitless carry because honest citizens should not need government permission to protect themselves and their families; and
WHEREAS, many old gun laws are still on the books and can be used against people who have done nothing wrong; and
WHEREAS, HB1737 and SB1851 remove these old and broken gun laws and clean up Tennessee’s rules on firearms; and
WHEREAS, this bill stops unfair bans, removes hidden traps, and makes it harder for judges and prosecutors to go after honest gun owners; and
WHEREAS, if this bill fails, gun owners will stay at risk of being punished by confusing and outdated laws;
THEREFORE, I urge you to vote YES on HB1737 to fix Tennessee’s gun laws and protect law-abiding gun owners across our state.
