On October 12, the Justice Department told a federal court that ATF will no longer enforce the challenged NFA provisions, but argued the court’s order covers only the plaintiffs, and Tennessee isn’t one. That leaves Tennessee suppressor owners protected by an ATF policy, not a law. Tennessee Gun Owners is asking Congress to write this relief into law.

On October 12, the Justice Department told a federal court that ATF “will no longer enforce the challenged NFA provisions against anyone.”
But DOJ also argued the court’s order does not cover everyone in the states that sued. It protects the plaintiffs and their members and customers, and Tennessee isn’t a plaintiff.
So what protects Tennessee suppressor owners today is an ATF enforcement policy, not a law. ATF policy can change at any time.
Add your name and tell Congress to write this relief into law so it can’t be taken back.
