On Tuesday, October 20, The New York Times reported, and Forbes reported, that Michael Bloomberg has sent about $80 million to help Democrats in the midterms, according to his team. At least $50 million of it is headed to House races, including $24 million to Everytown for Gun Safety, the gun control group he cofounded, and $16 million to House Majority PAC, House Democrats’ main super PAC.
His political adviser, Howard Wolfson, told the Times that Bloomberg believes money can shape election results.
Here’s what we already knew.
On October 6, Everytown teamed up with House Majority PAC to launch a $10 million TV and digital ad campaign in eight handpicked U.S. House races. Everytown says every one of the eight candidates is a former Moms Demand Action volunteer.
And George Soros went bigger.
Groups tied to him have put $102 million into Democracy PAC, the super PAC he founded, this election cycle. Democracy PAC has given $4 million to House Majority PAC, the same super PAC running Everytown’s ads.
Bloomberg’s $80 million plus the $102 million from groups tied to Soros is $182 million between them.
We aren’t counting Everytown’s $10 million campaign on top of that, because Bloomberg’s new money already includes $24 million to Everytown and $16 million to House Majority PAC, the two groups running it.
Here’s the math they’re playing.
Republicans hold 219 House seats, counting one independent who sits with them. Democrats hold 214, and two seats are empty. A net gain of three seats would hand Democrats the House.
If it works, here’s their list.
A national firearms permit, which means Washington’s permission just to own a gun. Red Flag Gun Confiscation, which lets a judge order your guns taken before you’re charged with anything. And universal gun registration, which puts every private sale under government paperwork.
Tennessee doesn’t have a Red Flag Gun Confiscation law. A Washington majority would try to go around that.
Tennessee Gun Owners is running email, texts and digital ads so gun owners know what’s at stake. We don’t have to match them dollar for dollar. We just have to stay on the field.
Will you chip in $10, $25 or $100 today?

P.S. $182 million is a lot of money aimed at a three-seat swing. Help TGO answer it.
