S. 3544 would make buying, receiving, or even possessing a firearm unlawful without a federal license. Tell Blackburn, Hagerty, and your U.S. Representative to vote hell no.
Sen. Cory Booker and a bunch of Democratic cosponsors put S. 3544, the Federal Firearm Licensing Act, into the U.S. Senate. It’s been sitting in Senate Judiciary since December. And no, this isn’t a little “safety” tweak. Under the bill as introduced, it’d be unlawful for you to buy, receive, or even possess a firearm without a federal firearm purchasing license, unless the attorney general decides your state’s system is “substantially similar.”

They want your fingerprints, then a shooting test.
Fingerprints and a background investigation. A written test. Then hands-on firing and accuracy testing.

One license. One gun. Five years.
Buy within 30 days. Renew every five years. Make, model, serial, and seller go on the application, and the seller reports it within three business days.

They wrote in a way to take them back.
Denial and revocation based on a “dangerousness” call, with court review, and procedures to take your firearms after a revocation.
That’s how you turn the Second Amendment into a permission slip.
Your right to keep what you already lawfully own would hang on staying in good standing with D.C. Waiting for a big floor-vote headline is how these things quietly pick up steam in committee.
